Mina Tindle – Heaven Thunder (with Sufjan Stevens)

French indie-folk artist Mina Tindle teams up once again with Sufjan Stevens for ‘Heaven Thunder’, a soft duet that sounds like peacefulness wrapped in a comfortable electronic blanket. The second work between the two, following 2020’s ‘Give a Little Love’ from Tindle’s ‘Sister’ LP, contributes significantly to the sense of togetherness and care with which both singers treat most of their tracks.

Producer Bryce Dessner (The National, Tindle’s husband) has created a rich melodic scene in which acoustic instruments intertwine with the sounds of synths. Stevens added pianos, synths, and beat programming, combining them with his voice, to complement Dessner’s guitars, bass, and string arrangements. The total result sounds anchored and ethereal, fitting an artist who seems a fixture on National records yet retains a distinctly Parisian sensibility.
